Angel Calderon is the principal advisor planning and research at RMIT University. He has worked as a journalist and foreign correspondent in several countries. Between 1998 and 2007, he was co-editor of the Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management and the Journal of Institutional Research. His research interests include: higher education policy; globalization; international education; impacts of trade liberalization on educational services; emerging markets; graduate outcomes and satisfaction, and benchmarking and university rankings. He is co-editor of a book (with Karen Webber) on institutional research and planning in higher education, published by Routledge in 2015. In 2013 he also co-edited a volume on global issues in Institutional Research, published by Wiley under the imprint of New Directions for Institutional Research. In 1999 he also co-authored a book on trends in science education, commissioned by the Australian Council of Deans of Science. Angel is an abstract painter, and draws inspiration from the spirit and living experiences in Australia and his native Guatemala.
