Dr. Weisler is Chief Data Officer at The University of California Davis. He previously served as Provost of Dominican University of California, and prior to that as professor of Linguistics and and in numerous leadership roles at Hampshire College, including Dean of Enrollment and Assessment, Dean of Academic Development, and Dean of Cognitive Science. Dr. Weisler served as Research Fellow with the New Leadership Alliance for Student Learning and we the founding director of the Teagle Assessment Scholars program at the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College. Dr. Weisler is founder of Hampshire College’s Innovative Instruction Laboratory, which explores educational applications of multimedia technology, and has produced for MIT Press a CD-ROM edition of Theory of Language. He is co-author of the 1987 and 1995 editions of Cognitive Science: An Introduction, the first undergraduate textbook in the field.Dr. Weisler earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University and was a Sloan post-doctoral fellow in cognitive science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He also holds an M.A. in communication from Case Western Reserve University.
